This particular topic will focus on how to achieve one’s goal. Goal are the end towards which we direct our effort.
Goal are important in varsity life because they help to motivate you to do work, attend classes and study for the exam.
Even though you already may have set some goals before in your life, chances are you thought little about whether those goals were realistic.

-          It should be realistics
-          It supposed to be moderately challenging
-          It have to be measurable
-          Your goal should be more specific
-          It got to has a finite(having limits or bounds)
-          Positive

ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL GOALS

What are your academic goals?

-          Further my other interest in design at the University Arts of London (UAL)

What are your personal goals?
-          My personal goals are to go travel backpacking around Asia.
-          Perform Hajj with my family.
What do you want to achieve by joining the course that you have chosen?

WRITING EFFECTIVE GOALS STATEMENT
(THE 5 STEP APPROACH)

Step 1 : Write down what you want
Step 2: Write down any obstacles
Step 3: Write down any resources
Step 4: Review and revise your goal statement
Step 5: Polish your goal statement

Of course I have a lot of goals that I want to accomplish in my life and one of them is to go travel backpacking around the world. Well, it seems kind of impossible but if you truly believed in your dream/ goal, insya Allah it will become a reality. My obstacles that prevent me from achieving my dream are my own knowledge, like how much knowledge I know about the world and do I have the courage to go backpacking.

Furthermore, we also been taught by Miss Nur Fatihah Muhammad on how to search for wanted books at the library by using the web OPAC. Web OPAC in anOnline Public Access Catalogue which allows the students to avail the services of the library online. Next, we also been taught on how to borrow the books from library.

THE FLOW OF PROCESS FOR BORROWING BOOK.

This library has 7 staffs consists of 5 librarian assistants and 2 librarians. It is a 3-storey building and my favorite level is the second level because it has more sitting area and books compare to other level.

EFFECTIVE NOTES TAKING SYSTEM

THE CORNELL NOTE TAKING SYSTEMS
-          Excellent format setting up a note page.
-          Requires and 8 inches X 11 inches notebook

 THE CORNELL TAKING METHOD
NOTES – This section where you should take your notes during the course of the lecture. Use bullets, sentences, short form while taking the notes.
CUES – Question, main points, visual clues and other clues.
SUMMARY – To summarize all of the notes on that particular page.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN NOTES?
HEADINGS – always note main points that are made during lecture.
DETAILS –any facts and explanations that explain the main points mentioned.
LISTEN FOR ALL DETAILS
-          definitions word for word if lecturer repeats them several  times.
-          Enumerations and lists of things that are discussed.
-          Examples related to general headings.
-          Anything that is repeated and spelled out.
-          Written on whiteboard and on a PowerPoint slide.
DISCUSSION CLASSES
-          Some lectures prefer the discussion format when teaching.
-          Can easily take note on a discussion by writing down the main question posed.
-          Then jog down the various points that are made during the class.
MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE CLASS
-          Taking notes in math and science class requires strategies.
-          It is helpful to write the problem on the left sides of note page and anything the lecturer says about on the right side.
POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS
-          Use the headings and subheadings in the power point presentations to organize your notes.
-          Copy the headings and subheadings into your notes.

-          Check notes to see whether you missed anything.
-          This method helps you learn the material in a integrated way.
RECITE FROM THE RECALL
-          When you know the information in your notes, use the recall questions to test your memory of the main points and supporting details.
-          This review method helps you learn the material in an isolated way.

TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
Lectured by NURSYAHIDA BINTI ZULKIFLI
Okay guys, so for this week everything is based on organization and how to manage your time wisely. As time is the most precious thing to all of us we have to value time as we valued other important things.
DEFINITION OF TIME

Verb- plan, schedule, or arrange (when something) should be happen or done.
DEFINITION OF TIME MANAGEMENT
-          The ability to use one’s time effectively or productively, especially at work.
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME
-          The importance of time we can analyse from the Hadiths and Surah in the Quran.  This show that even in Islam, time is valuable and crucial for those who use it wisely.
Narrated Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Apostle as saying, ‘Do not abuse Time, for it is Allah Who is the Time.’ Sahih Muslim.
Ibn ‘Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah s.a.w. said “Two favors that many of the people squander are health and free time.” (Sahih)

“By time. Indeed, mankind is in loss.  Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.”
(Surah Al-Asr)

5 STRATERGIES (STUDY SYSTEM)
·         Weekly schedule – by doing a weekly schedule I can see what are the main event are going on within that week. It helps me to be prepared the day before the event.
·         Daily planner – daily planner is an essential for me as a student to keep me organized with my daily chores and the assignments that needed to be done.
·         Semester calendar
·         Academic vs. Personal life – This takes a lot of effort because living far away from home and family is pretty hard, at the same time I have to focus on my studies as a college student. But this will take time and effort to balance between Academic life and Personal life.
·         Avoid procrastination! – That one thing that I always do is procrastinating, I think I have to find a way to make me feel driven to finish my work on time and stop delaying or giving any excuses. It takes a great major of discipline to avoid procrastinating and start doing my job right away.
WHAT IS PROCRASTINATION?
·         Procrastination is the act of putting off intentionally the doing of something that should be done.
PROCRASTINATION CYCLE

THE REASONS OF PROCRASTINATION
·         Perfectionist – one’s need everything to be done on the exact same way could buy off some time to do it because if one thing isn’t complete then it will put up other work.
·         Avoid failure
·         Avoid success
·         Being rebellious
·         Feeling overwhelmed
·         Lazy
THE REMEDY OF PROCRASTINATION
·         GO BACK TO YOUR INITIAL GOAL!
·         Alert to the deadlines
·         Prioritized on the main thing instead of minor things.
·         Self-rewards after finish your goal.
ADVANTAGE OF BEING ORGANIZED
·         Great outcome
·         We will know what to do in future
·         Soft skill will increase
·         Keep on schedule and meet deadline
·         Reduce stress (we in control!)
HOW TO MANAGE YOUR TIME?
·         By using the applications on my phone, I manage to organize my time wisely. Examples of some applications that I used are calendar, alarm, reminder, planner , Onenotes and Gmail.
·         By using a physical planner book. It depends on people on how they like to plan things. But for me, I like to write down things that needed to be done so that it will stay in my head longer.

·         I don’t always bring my planner with me so what I did was I kept thinking of things that needed to be done in earlier times. I like to think/ organized things that matters in my head because it’s a lot easier and safe time too.
·         Make the Prophet Muhammad and his companions as an example of my daily life, and here’s a video on how successful people at the beginning of time organized their time wisely.
